Missing Fun Factor in Mario's Time Machine
Mario’s Time Machine for the Super Nintendo is an educational game where Mario travels through time to return stolen historical artifacts taken by Bowser. The concept sounds promising, especially as it gives you the chance to learn something about history, but the execution is unfortunately lacking.

The gameplay mainly consists of reading information about historical events and figures, after which you have to return the correct artifacts to the right time and place. This sounds interesting on paper, but it quickly felt repetitive and dull to me. The lack of challenging puzzles or truly engaging interaction makes the learning experience feel forced, and there is little variation in the gameplay. It feels more like an obligation than a game you want to keep playing.

Graphically, the game looks colourful and has that typical Mario style, but the environments and characters lack the charm and creativity you expect from regular Mario games. The music is decent, but nothing special or memorable. It’s a shame, as those cheerful and catchy tunes often make a Mario game so enjoyable.

For an educational game, Mario’s Time Machine isn’t bad, but it lacks the fun factor and depth you would expect from a Mario title. It fails to be both educational and entertaining, making it rather uninteresting for the masses. Of course, it deserves a place in your Mario collection, but actually playing it... that’s another story.

Just Passable
Is Mario's Time Machine a cool game? Unfortunately, not quite the standard we're used to from our favorite plumber. This is an educational game, just like Mario is missing. A bit misleading, to be honest. You can skip this one, although it looks nice in the collection, especially if it's complete in the box, it has become a collector's item.
